There's a possibility the white could be an infection, or it could be something normal to her, since her watery eyes are a chronic condition, from what you describe.

There's really not a home remedy for any kind of eye problem (unless you count daily wiping a home remedy) because eyes are so delicate that there's nothing really safe to put in them aside from vet prescribed drops.

If she paws at her face, rubs herself on you or the carpet, etc or shows any signs of pain or irritation, or if the discharge becomes green or yellowish in color or is thickened or copious, definitely take her to the vet to be sure. He can put special drops in her eyes and look for any kind of signs of infection or injury from dust or grit with special glasses and a black light.

Also, it might be a good idea to ask him to check out her lids and lashes this way; some dogs with watery eyes actually have malformation of the lids/lashes that can't be seen with the naked eye.

Good luck!

Sailor

This is called entropia & it is very common to certain breeds. My dog has a mild case of it. The treatment is surgery. The lashes hit the eyeball causing irritation. There are many pros & cons to the surgery. Often the surgery needs to be repeated. I have opted not to get it unless it worsens. I have a script from the vet that clears it for weeks at a time (eye ointment). I also have a home remedy as well. Message me for more info. Hope this helps.

this time of year, check his eyes for foreign objects, especially grass seeds. It's a common problem, BUT if you see anything, try to WASH it out, not pick it out. Probably a good idea to wash his eyes out now anyway. Be sure to use bottled pure water or a canine eyewash. NEVER put human eyedrops in your dogs eyes, NEVER!!!
