What may lessen my dog's tearstains or get rid of them?

My groomer talked about a tear duct surgery that gets rid of the pawroblem, but I am not the surgery type. We also have heard of like a tear stain remover called "Angel Eyes", but I was wondering if it worked, or something else may work. My mama has tried washing them with a washcloth and warm water, but no luck.

I don't personally have this problem, Lady Ivana, but a frined of mine who is a Maltese does.

She uses a product called Eye Envy, which she says is not a bleach or harsh chemical mix.

Basically, the tears stain the white fur and cause discoloration, so this removes the discoloration. Plain water never works to remove those stains.

She says her mom has been using this on her for a couple of years and no problems, and that it really works. Her mom thinks the only downside is that it is kind of on the expensive side, but she says that once you use it, you don't need much to maintain the results, so it is initially more expensive.

Again, I've never used this stuff, but my friend dogs, so ask your groomer about it....and, you're right, no surgery!

There are plenty of products out there, both in pet stores and online, that remove or lessen pet tear stains with varying degree of success. I would hope your groomer could recommend some of them, rather than just suggesting surgery right off the bat.

Talk to your vet. If it is severe, you may have a blocked tear duct that can be corrected with meds and drops. If you don't and it is just cosmetically displeasing, there are a lot of mild cleaners you can use.

My Tiffy is a white dog and she has the same problem. We use a Peppermint herbal shampoo that can be bought at your local herbal store. It won't work right away. But after about 2 washes, you will se a difference. It also helps with ticks and fleas.
