What is this strong odor from my dogs cast?

My black male pug broke his paw. We have a cast on it from our vet. The vet said we can put the dog outside and whatnot. He broke his paw last wednesday night and had the cast put on friday afternoon.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me via email at alex_gougeon@hotmail.com. Thanks.

If your dog walked on something wet, the smell could simply be coming from the cast since sometimes casts can get smelly when exposed to water. It could also be coming from some type of an infection.

I think your best bet would be just giving your vet a call and asking about it.

Typical large amounts of Gold Bond are used in casts and bandages. Gold Bond has a somewhat unsual smell. Infections typicaly have a very nasty smell to them. You should be able to take your dog back to the vet that put the cast on and have them check it without needing to make an appoinment or having to pay a large amount. However be sure to call and confirm this with your vet first. They may only allow those sorts of drop in's durig limited hours.
