I think she is mixed with a lab. I want to know this because me and my boyfriend plan on moving out of his parents house and they have a dog. We have to get another dog for out pitt bull to play with.
I would go with a male... opposite sex pairings tend to get along best (not that same sex pairings can't, it's just sometimes there are issues).

Our Late Lab, Candy, shopped with me for months. We looked at dozens of dogs. None suited her, even though I like lots of them. Then we found Snickers. They were both smitten at once. They had 4 years of companionship before her passing in Feb.
It's a crap shoot. Just like you finding the right guy after wading through a bunch of duds, your Pit will too.
A word of caution. They play rough and don't know when to quit. This has been tragic in some cases where a Pit has accidently killed a friend and companion. Pits should not be loose in the house with another dog if you are not home.
