My Tiffy also gets tear stains. We have come across a herbal peppermint shampoo for dogs that is sold at your local herbal store. It really works wonders with the tear stains. You have to do about 2 good washes before you will see the difference.

Jack gets stains sometimes due to allergies. I tried all of the products specified for tear stains and none really worked. So one day I grabbed a (non-scented) baby wipe and tried that out. I was careful not to get close to the actual eye (like any product). The next day, it was all gone. Baby wipes are super gentle (hey, they are for babies!), they don't stink (like some of the products out there), and they are much more inexpensive.

Nina's Mom:
I have an Eskie, he is all white like you Nina.
About 3 or 4 times a week my Mom takes cotton balls, soaked in warm water and wipes under my eves. We have been doing this for 8 years and my eyes remain clean all the time.

What kind of food is Niņa currently on?
Food quality really makes a BIG difference. Tiggles used to have horrible tear stains, but when I switched her food to a super premium food, such as Wellness, Canidae ALS or Nature's Variety, her tear stains vanished completely!
Also, do you give her city tap water that is likely fluoridated? Fluoridated water may be the source of an allergy sensitivity causing tear stains. Try giving her bottled or filter water.
Another thing is that I heard is that white cider vinegar helps control tear stains.
:D Hope that helped! Good luck on getting rid of those tear stains!
