I sure wouldn't do this to my dog. It sounds cruel and inhumane and very unsafe!! Please reconsider this if you are thinking about this method. I would hate for you to lose your dog. If you check in to it you can get some help paying for this procedure. In some cases you may even have it all payed for.

News Flash! It's 2009! We do have qualified vets that are all over the place! PS! They don't just "fall off" they rot off. Try putting a rubberband tightly around anybody part of your own, take your pick. A side from the pain, imagine if you can, the length of time you'll have to wait for that part to fall off!
What a question!

i dont think that it is a humane thing to do to a pet, i grew up on a farm, and they did something like that to the cattle, but not dogs. please dont, it sounds painful.

Why would you even give this nonsense a second thought? A person who would do such a thing should have their dog taken from and face charges of animal cruelty. We love our animals here on Dogster and such a suggestion is uncalled for and very upsetting.

This question is one of two things;
1) A Joke
or
2) A tragedy waiting to happen.
I have two anwers, one for each potential circumstance.
1) Why? What a waste of time.
2) Yeah, it's true. In theory. But, the details are what count.
And here they are: Do you have testicles, or any other body part for that matter, that you'd like wrapped tightly enough so that the blood supply is cut off and for days or weeks you are in great pain as your body part necrotizes, turning black with gangrene, risking your life with pus and bacteria getting into your bloodstream and slowly poisoning you to death?
Doesn't sound like much fun. Which is why this sort of thing is illegal and if you're caught torturing a dog this way, you'll have to pay a fine or go to jail.

If you wouldn't tie off your own testicles with a rubber band, why would you do it to a dog?
Really?

It could probably be done, but it would be VERY painful for the dog and has the potential to cause infections. Better to just have the vet perform the neutering surgery with the dog under anesthesia.

No! Do not do this to your dog is you were thinking about it! Instead, go to the vet where they will remove the PROFESSIONALY! If you tried this method of a rubber band, it would be considered ANIMAL CRUELTY because of all the pain the dog would go through! At the vet office they sedate them so they won't feel pain.

Yow! No!
This is done (or used to be) with livestock. It's called ring castration, I believe.
