slicker brush for a papillon??

my groomer said to get a slicker brush but i've heard that it will cause split ends. anyone have experience using this type of brush??

I've used a slicker brush. I used it mainly on my GSD, but I think that I've used it on my Papillon mix too.
Papillons have the right coat type for a slicker brush, though when I lost mine, I started using a comb and it has worked just as well.

I have used mine some on our Golden Retriever, and extensively on Labs with no problems.
