We adopted the oldest dog at age of 6 months - he was very scared and nervous when we got him. Now he is much better but stil jumpy and scared of strangers, flying paper bags ect ect...
Now when we got this new little dog.. He avoids her and is clearly scared. He looks away and goes around her if he can. If she gets to close - jumping around he grrrrr s at her and shows his teeths. Serious I am scared he would hurt her - not because he is aggressive but because he is scared and if she puts him in a corner he might attack.
what should I do.. There are not many dogs around here to socialise them with either.. We are walking togheter but the little one is too small to walk in a leash properly.
Please - I need help.. I love both my dogs and I want them to be happy togheter.

My old dogs, may they rest in peace, were afraid of each other too. What you may want to do is for one or two nights lay a washed towel in both of their kennels, and then take each towel out and rub it all over and place it under the opposite dogs food bowl. That should teach them to associate each other with something they like. I promise they will not think the other is food. I consulted a trainer on this, if they dont smell like food they aren't food. Anyway, that should get ehm to like each other a bit more and then try placing their kennels close to each other. Then, theres nothing much more you can do for a naturally timid dog. He will get better once he realizes he's not going to be hurt.
