Should I get my ears cropped?

My Mommy and Daddy are aruging about if my ears should be cropped or not. Mommy says no and Daddy says yes.

I will be trained to do either agility or obendence showing but not to be a show(conformation)dog. Mommy says because I am not to be a show dog is why I don't need my ears done and it will be a lot of work for her to make sure they heal right but Daddy says that because I will be at agility or obendence I should have them done and that I will look better.

I don't think you should have it done. It can be a very painful procedure. And why get it done?
Having the ears cropped is simply cosmetic, and is not about the dog-it's about the person. It doesn't need to be done, you are beautiful as you are and if you daddy wants you to look nicer, tell him he doesn't know what he's talking about.

My opinon is not to have them done it is very painful to the dog. But this is only my opinon. Best of luck to you Duke.

I vote no too. I love the floppy ears personally. My SIL has two boxers with floppy ears and they are the cutest things ever.

We say nope :) Your cute as you are, no need to cut them! your right, it is alot of work to keep them clean, and you have cute floppy ears!

My suggestion would be no. I had a dobie years ago, and not fully understanding I had his ears cropped.It was the worst thing I have ever done to one of my pets! It is painful for the dog, more than I thought it would be. I have regretted it since the day I had it done and have sworn to never do it again. As for looks...animals are beautiful just the way they are! They are as God intended them to be! Of course this is only my opinion.

Minpins get there tails docked at 5 days old. We choose NOT to crop ears cause "floppy ears" are so much cueter! Plus Iv seen A LOT of terrible jobs done, how many times have I said, "Oh, those ears look like &#@*!"

Ask your dad if he'd have his own ears cropped. That might swing him around to you and your mom's side of things. :-)

Your dog is perfect as he is. Don't put him through a painful procedure so that he can conform to some kind of so-called ideal look.

He's already gorgeous just the way he is.

Cropping is best done when the puppy is too little to remember the pain. No, I suggest you don't crop the ears. You have no need to.

I vote with the others - no cropping. It's an unnecessary surgical procedure that will require much care afterwards by somebody (probably Mom - if your house is like mine!!). It's pain that is not necessary. Besides, floppy ears rule!!

NO!...No!!...NO!!
Ear cropping, for the vast part, is cosmetic & puts your dog in pain & at risk of infection just so the dog looks tougher & it does nothing for the dog!
You need to put your foot down with your hubby!...

Nope, he looks SO cute already! Cropping his ears (unless it's done correctly) can actually make him look funky and weird. I've seen some vets try to crop ears, but they didn't do it right so now the dogs hardly have any ears at all!
