so he told me to come back and pick him up. His peepee is VERY SWOLLEN and it looked like the size of a baseball when i took him in. It looked purple and red when i got him back and again i was upset. What is the normal time to heal for a wound like this since he picked at it and it was hurt more after the actual operation.. the vet was very rude and acted like it wasnt his fault. He said if anything else happened to take him to the Emergency room!!! which was absoutley rediculous and i wasnt about to argue with him over soemting like that!.. i got a voucher from the county to get him neutered and he was on the list. Could i go to animal control and let them know what happened and get care elsewhere for free or paid by the vet who messed up? I need to know if i need to take him because it is still swollen and more than the first time. I feel so bad and i dont know what to do ! i feel like since it was not fully paid for he half as#ed it. PLEASE HELP!!!
I think I gathered from your posts that things went down hill once your dog got to his neuter site... is that right? It sounds like the neuter was done correctly but if you don't keep the dog from biting, licking or chewing on the surgery site then things can get ugly, which sounds like what happened. It will take awhile for the swelling to go down and for his body to reabsorb the blood- probably more than a week. Initially it will look better after a few days but it will probably remain swollen for awhile.
Keep him quiet, do not let him lick, chew, bite or scratch the surgery site! It really doesn't sound like the vet screwed up, it sounds like the dog just made a mess of himself when he was allowed to get at the surgery site.

I'd take the dog into the e.r. just to have another vet look at him and see if any damage was done. If there's damage and it was a bad neutering job, then the e.r. vet bill and any other bills you have should be paid for by the vet who botched the surgery.
I know most people don't like going to an emergency vet because of money, but I've taken my dog to the e.r. vet twice (once for an issue with his incision from being neutered) and I got fantastic help and the price wasn't too much more than I'd pay at my vet.
If you're feeling really uneasy about how your Zeke looks, please take him in to an e.r. vet and relieve any fears you have. And if something is wrong, you'll have an answer.
Good luck and let us know how your Zeke is.
