I bought a 3 month supply and like Advantage you set it on the pets back and he wanted it off. He was rubbing his bedding then he started running around the house very madly. I washed it off of him.
I personally when we put on frontline, which is the same we have to put it between the shoulderblades. We do it before bed (since we have two dogs, but we also did this with one) and then crate them the rest of the night. Since they sleep in their crates anyway. It doesn't seem to bother them but we don't want them licking each other with it on. It's whats best for the dog, don't wash it off because the dog doesn't want it on, he'll get over it. My advice if he is acting that way is do it before bed and crate him. At that point you aren't there to be his friend, you are trying to protect him. Be firm. It's in his best interest

My pups usually get to wear old t-shirts so that they don't rub the stuff all over the place. He might be having an allergic reaction to it or something. I'd talk to your vet about it.
The t-shirts work great so that it wont come off at least. But I guess he's just gonna have to get used to it.
