Airlines and Therapy Dogs

We are going to be traveling in airlines soon. My dog is a year old and she is small enough to travel in the cabin with us, but I really don't want her to travel in-cargo and I really don't want to pay $250 every time we fly (round trip).
I want her to be a therapy dog as soon as she settles down a bit, grows up you know. She's really good with people, she's like a magnet with kids. I can see her making some little hospitalized-girl's day.
I know some airlines allow certified therapy dogs to travel in-cabin for FREE providing they have a letter from a hospital/nursing home/etc. in the area inviting the dog to come in for a visit.
So, my question…which airlines allow this? Do they at all? How hard is the Therapy dog test?

Answers very much appreciated! Thanks guys!

ASKED BY

Traveling to UK with my dog?

Hi,

I am planning to go to UK to visit my bf in Dec but only to learn that there is a 6 month thing that is require. I really need to be in UK asap. I am taking my dog with me but the whole process of relocating my dog to UK is overwhelming. I don't want to hire a Pet Relocating Company because it's too expensive. Do anyone have experience in this? Any tips that you think would help me make this trip smoother? Anyone would know what the process is like?? I had read sites telling me what to do to prepare for the travel with a pet to UK. I know some people would say why not leave the dog behind. This is because I am planning to move to UK for good after I return back from the visit and I feel it's best that I take my dog there and stay with my bf.

HELP!! Please someone who knows what to do, steps I need to take, plans, cost or any tips you can offer, I really would appreciate it!! I am located in NYC btw.

What should I do when I pick my 11 week old puppy up from the airport?

I am getting a 11 week old toy australian shepherd puppy from a breeder in Minnesota and it is being flown to me. I was not big on shipping a puppy in the first place but after doing some research I fell in love with the breed. Sadly all the breeders around me, aren't what I would call responsible and reputable breeders. I have been in contact with the breeder and have total confidence in her, and she has shipped puppies before but I'm still nervous.

What should I expect when picking my puppy up from the airport? what should I bring with me? Also it is a 3 hour car ride from the airport back home, any advice for the car ride? I've been doing research on it but would love more advice and info.

This is my first dog and I'm just so nervous/excited and just want to be the best owner I can be.

Thanks for your help!

ASKED BY

So today I took him with me to get coffee, just a short ride to get used to the carrier.... and he was fine whimpered a bit but when I pulled up to the drive thru he started barking!!! haha any ideas how to deter this, or is it just something we have to keep wrokin' at?
Which domestic airline has the largest maximum carryon size, and which carry on containers would you recommend?

I have been researching United, and it has a size limit of 17x12x8in for hard-sided containers, and a limit of 17x10x10in for a soft sided container. My dog is just about 17in long, 12in tall, and 5in wide, so she would fit quite well. Do you have any domestic airlines with larger maximum sizes or is United the best? Should my dog have a hard sided or a soft sided? Is it good to carryon? Which airline is pretty cheap for the space it allows? SO MANY QUESTIONS!

ASKED BY
