Is lethargy and pain normal 5 days after spay surgery?

My 7mo old pug puppy was spayed 5 days ago and she is obviously still in a lot of pain. She is lethargic and stays in her bed, crys out in her sleep and when touched near her incision and does not react or act as usual. My vet told me over the phone to give her baby asprin twice a day, they did not seem overly concerned. Is something else going on or is my puppy just taking longer than normal to heal? Her incision looks fine, she is going to the bathroom fine. She is eating but i have to raise her dish, she won't lean down to it. No vomiting. I don't think she has a fever, but I don't have a dog thermometer. Do I just watch and wait or get her in immediately to another vet?

ASKED BY

First off i am going to start by saying this isn't going to keep from neutering my boy or anything like that, i just have never owned males before.

I have a mixed breed male and he is very protective of me. I like that in him because i don't live in the best of areas and i feel really safe with him. My question is when he is neutered will he lose that protective drive in him because of less testosterone?

ASKED BY

I have a 60 lb adult lab/pit mix who needs to be spayed. My vet is charging close to $400, the spay/neuter clinic told me they don't do dogs that large. I can't afford that much for a medical procedure for myself, let alone my dog. Does anyone know of any other resources to get her spayed for a much lower price?

ASKED BY

so he told me to come back and pick him up. His peepee is VERY SWOLLEN and it looked like the size of a baseball when i took him in. It looked purple and red when i got him back and again i was upset. What is the normal time to heal for a wound like this since he picked at it and it was hurt more after the actual operation.. the vet was very rude and acted like it wasnt his fault. He said if anything else happened to take him to the Emergency room!!! which was absoutley rediculous and i wasnt about to argue with him over soemting like that!.. i got a voucher from the county to get him neutered and he was on the list. Could i go to animal control and let them know what happened and get care elsewhere for free or paid by the vet who messed up? I need to know if i need to take him because it is still swollen and more than the first time. I feel so bad and i dont know what to do ! i feel like since it was not fully paid for he half as#ed it. PLEASE HELP!!!

ASKED BY

My dog tore a couple of his neuter stitches and now the wound is gaping. It's 11 at night. Wound is closed with bandaid.

I recently adopted a dog from my local animal shelter three days ago. I took him to the vet within five minutes of signing the adoption papers. He'd been neutered by the shelter, but the vet couldn't tell me how recent it was. He's been licking himself quite a bit and my family realized he still has stitches that he's been worrying, so we put an e-collar on him to stop the biting and save the stitches. He stopped after that day and we were able to leave him without the collar the next day. However, he's managed to tear his stitches and now the wound is gaping and bleeding. We managed to close the wound using a bandaid to pull the incision back together and the bleeding seems to have stopped. He's simply asleep. He's not warm or groaning in pain unless he tries to walk around. I plan to take him to the vet first thing tomorrow morning. Any advice on what to do until then?

ASKED BY
