Update on 5-6 week old puppy (I asked a question on what to feed this age puppy)

Unfortunately he died early this morning. I took him to the vet and he tested positive for parvo. A day after they started blood work and IV drip he didn't make it. I bet the people that dumped him knew he was sick. It sad that this little guy had to be put through that especially at such a young age. The vet told me he was 6 weeks old but didn't seem to have had any food in his system and his body was not growing like it should (either due to sickness or malnutrition). I wish I knew the people that did this to him for I would have a couple of words for them.

Thanks to all that answered the question on what to feed him.

ASKED BY

MY dog will not drink water out of a bowl, the only water she gets I mix with her dry food. When I first got her she was afraid of dishes and bowls. You had to feed her either out of your hand or put it on the floor. not getting enough water.

ASKED BY

Should we go back to free feeding?

I have a 1yo, 8lb chihuahua/terrier mix. She was free fed as a baby and then around 6mo we started her on scheduled feeding. However, she has always been finicky about eating. Sometimes she will eat her whole meal consistently for several days and other times skip up to 2 days of meals. We feed her twice a day. She gets dry kibble only, and when she doesn't eat we don't give her treats during the day. We are thinking about switching her back to free feeding so she can eat when she wants, but aren't sure that is the best idea. Any help would be appreciated.

ASKED BY

I have a Chow Chow/Akita mix, he eats, but not a lot. I worry about his weight. He was almost 60 lbs when i got him and now is just above 50 (like 50.6)!!! The vet says that he is fine and is healthy. Doesn't have worms or coccidia. I still worry though. He is my only dog, therefor gets his own food. I let him graze because when I tried to feed him on a schedule he wouldn't eat at all!!!! I put 4 cups of food a day in his bowl and A SINGLE BOWL will last him for 4 days!!!!!! The food I have him on is high quality AND the ONLY food I can get him to even touch!!! Please HELP!!!! Any suggestions helpful!

ASKED BY

My lab is 10 and fluid is coming out of one eye. We have been washing it out with saline solution for a week. My wife thinks it's the beach sand that's in his eye. It looks fine most of the day, but is the worst in the morning. Has anyone had this happen? Can I keep cleaning or should I take him to a vet? I am worried about infection or maybe a sign of something else.

ASKED BY

Question about dog bones

I have noticed alot of posts say not to give your dog cooked bones because they can splinter. So, what about bones from petstores? Are these cooked bones as well? The reason I ask is because Ruby has such a sensitive stomach and even treats tend to upset her belly, but she LOVES bones and chews them then eats them. The bones I get her say "Original flavor" thats all I have noviced on the wrapper. Nothing stuffed or glazed, she doesnt like those. So, any pointers are appreciated. Thanks

ASKED BY

He's fine health wise but every time he drinks his water it's no doubt he will puke up if not once but two or three times. Why do you suppose this is? Any advice on how to get him to stop this?
