We make sure to take him out regularly and he can hold it all night. He is in a crate when we are gone and does not have any accidents in there. Yesterday, we were standing near the stove talking and Radar walked up and started urinating. He did not give us any signs that he needed to be let out - in fact - he had just been out half hour prior. Are we doing something wrong?

ASKED BY

My pug, is 20 months old (spayed) and poos in the house at night. What do I do?

Chloe (the pug) does pretty good during the day, but at night if she is crated she will poo in her crate. If she is allowed to sleep with me (or my son) you can guarantee you will find a poo-poo somewhere in the house the next morning. It is an 5 out of 7 night occurrence! She has done this during the day also (if she is left home alone for even the smallest amount of time - 1 hour). This only occurs when she i left uncrated. SInce, she is almost 2, I would like to be able to leave her out in the house while I run errands during the day (an hour or two) and let her sleep with us at night. I don't mean to let the sleeping with us at night sound like a new thing. She basically always has. Please HELP?!?!?!

ASKED BY

How do I get my dog to stop peeing in the house right after she has gone outside?

She is a spayed, and housebroken for the most part 2 year old boxer/pitt mix. We have been to the vet and there are no medical reasons for this. She is crated during the day when we are gone. Although she does not have a fenced yard and freedom to run we walk at least a mile very day and she chases toys and cats in the house. I take her out when she signals or about every 2 hours when we are home. She takes care of all business when we are outside, and it never fails that as soon as we come in she will pee on the floor. Recently she has taken to peeing in our bed. The people who lived in the house before us did have pets, and they were free to use the bathroom where they pleased, but I have cleaned and cleaned in an attempt to rid the house of the odors.

ASKED BY

Marty, my almost 9 week old Golden Retriever, likes to use his dog litter box in his playpen as a pet bed to snooze and otherwise hang out in. He just tagged it this evening for the first time, yet he still lies down in it. He's had at least 8 accidents on the carpet and in his playpen outside of the litter box, yet he is able to hold it in his crate upstairs and has started to go outside almost consistently. Do I get rid of the litter box or keep trying to use it just for when he's contained in his playpen?

ASKED BY

Why is my 10 month old potty trained Pomeranian unexpectedly peeing all over my house for the past two months?

My 10 month old Pomeranian named Allie has been potty trained for many months. We worked really hard with her right from the start on crate training her. It didn't take her long to catch on and was potty trained quickly. She went several months with no accidents and would always go to the door when she had to go. Then two months ago she started to back track. We would take her out, she wouldn't go, then we brought her back in and she would squat and pee as we take the leash off. Now its a random thing. Sometimes she runs to the door and goes immediately, other times she will not even go near the door and pee in the house. Its like she chooses when she goes outside. Lots of times we bring her in and she pees the minute she comes in. Any advise on why she would be doing this and what I can do to get her back on track? Hoping someone will have an idea cause I have tried everything I can think of and nothing is working. She was potty trained and now she like pretends she isn't. Please help

ASKED BY

Regression in potty training

My 6 month old Whippet was easy to potty train. She has consistantly gone outside about 96% of the time (she will have an occasional accident). I do not work, and I am diligent about watching her. I take her outside each time she wakes from her nap, etc.
She has started urinating at infrequent times. I have steam cleaned the carpets to take away the urine smell, but she still does it now and then. She is free-fed food/water. She doesn't eat well, so I am afraid to put her on a "schedule" for fear she will loose weight.
Any recommendations?

ASKED BY
