my 8 week old pup

We have had this pup for 4 days now.
The 1st day she slep and didn't pee in her crate.
the 2nd day she didn't pee either, just outside.
Now on the 3rd and 4th day she has peed in her crate 2 times a day once at night. We are not home from 8am-4:00pm. My wife comes home every 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours to let our honey out. Is she just too young to get the whole crate training thing? We don't feed her much water between the hours we are gone either... Please help what to do next?

We do not have a kid so i don't really know what to expect. We are home all weekend and all night she stays home for about 7 hours at the most on tuesday and Thursday. the other days just for about 4 hours. She has our cats to look at and we keep the TV on. We both work

I am here to get help. I bought a pup because I do not know what to expect. Knowledge is power. Wow, some people on here are “crazy dog people” I have a dog to love play run and socialize. Sad that people work in this wonderful world. You make it seem like the pup is home all alone in a dark, cold smelly crate. No, not at all. She has a bed and toys and we come home every second we can. Out of the 5 days in the WORK week she stays in her crate for about two of the for about7 hours. She is let out to play and go out side every 1 ½ hour. So if you cannot help just do not post anything.
Catster is much more helpful.

He's trained to go outside. I have no problems w/him going inside, but he has to go on a lengthy walk before pooping. I don't have this problem w/peeing. I didn't mind this when I lived in Atlanta, but I'm up North now and am not looking forward to a snowy, cold winter and these walks. He was crate trained within a month using training treats.

ASKED BY

Crate Training Gone Bad!

I started crate-training Olive and she has been fantastic! She is a very smart girl with tons of energy. I normally use her crate when she sleeps at night, when I drive her somewhere or when she is unsupervised (for no later than 2 hours).

Sense she is still potty-training, I caught her eliminating in my room last night and stopped her halfway through. I took her to the correct spot and I thought she was finished. I praised her and I put her in her crate to take her to a local Pet store to buy toys 20 minutes later. While driving, I smelled poop and checked her crate and she eliminated in her crate! I felt like I was fooled and was also dissapointed in myself.

I heard that once a dog eliminates in its crate, they will begin to understand that eliminating in their crate is okay, when it is not. Is this a true statement? How can I keep a better eye on her so I know that when she's done eliminating that she is done completely?

HELP!
Love,
Olive's mother

ASKED BY
