What is the difference between The Staffordshire and the Pitbull?

I was trying to find out the answer to this question and ran across this on the internet:

http:// www. faqs.org /qa/qa-1627.html (w/o spaces)

Some people say the Staffie is bigger, others say the Pitbull is bigger. Some are saying Pitbulls aren't even a real breed, but Dogster lists the Staffordshire and the Pitbull as two different breeds (under the list of selecting your dog's breed). Most of my friends have what they call "pitbulls". I have one friend who has a rather large "pitbull", who weighs nearly 100 lbs, and is almost three feet tall. Then I have another friend who has "pitbulls" that don't go over 60-70 lbs and aren't more than 20-25 inches tall. (That's just an estimate.. I'm not really sure how tall they are...) One of the dogs this friend has has a different face than the other "pitbulls" Her face is a little rounder and flatter than the others. Is she a Staffie and the others Pitbulls, or is it the other way around? Someone help clear the confusion! Thanks! :

ASKED BY

Italian Greyhound? Are broken bones that common?

I plan on getting an apartment about a year and a half from now, so I'm looking into dogs, and with my family at home, I've trained four dogs into excellent companions so far.
I'd be living with two other girls who have also had pets and know how to respect and work with animals. I will be working at a doggy day care center soon and by then, will be able to take my future dog with me.
So the two dogs that I have been mainly looking into are the Italian Greyhound and French Bulldog, but I've taken the Frenchie out of the running and replaced him with the Chihuahua, mainly because if my Frenchie were to become very ill or need medication, which, to my understanding, isn't rare at all, I don't think I could afford the medication.
So I'm trying to stick with dogs that have a better health record.
Is it that common for Italian Greyhounds to break bones? Is it possible to be just that careful so that it never happens? or am I better off with the Chi who has a bit more sturdiness?

ASKED BY

Also, I know they are good apartment dogs because they're small but they are know to be barkers. What does it take to train a Chihuahua to be quiet? Treats when they stop barking on your command? Good socialisation as pups?
