Grooming My Shih TZu

Suzie, my almost 3 year old Shih Tzu is not a big fan of being groomed. So we do it ourselves, and she is ok with it. But the thing is that we really don't have a clipper. We bought a cheep one, major crap. Then we bought a more expensive cheap one, also major crap. Then we used the flowbee (some really old thing that we tried). It worked but it sucked up her skin a little and that scred me and I don't want her to get hurt. And Suzie has wavy hair instead of straight, which mats very easily, which is why we keep her short all the time. I would like o know what you guys use on all your Shih Tzus, from clipper brands, blade sizes, every thing. And price ranges. I have looked but I have no idea what I'm looking at! lol Any info would be helpful.
Thanks A Bunch!

ASKED BY

Is Pedipaws a good nail trimming tool for my small dog? He doesn't allow more than a very light brief second of filing.

I'm following all the directions that came with the tool a few weeks ago, and at this point my little dog even comes to me when he hears the buzzing sound because he knows there are treats to be had if he lets me very briefly touch his nails to the spinning file. However, he is very resistant to allowing sufficient time or pressure for me to do any real filing. We just can't seem to get to the next stage. Should I persist? Also, the dew claw is almost curled around to form a donut shape. Is the dew claw a good candidate for this procedure? Thanks so much!

ASKED BY

this is about Sasha...is this normal?

Shouldn't she be getting her winter coat not shedding it all off....Is she going to freeze? Of is her winter coat coming in so she is shedding older fur?

I guess I just thought since it was getting colder she would need all the fur she could get?

Also is there a special brush where I could take her outside and brush her to help with the shedding?

I don't mind I just get the vacum out a few times a day...this is the first dog I've had that sheds so I don't know much about shedding...(I've had poodles and stuff)
