Quick Bleeding HELP!

I was cutting Winnie Mae's nails and one of them started bleeding! I feel so bad! I've put some cornstarch on in (googled what to do and that's what it told me) but not much. Mostly stopped bleeding. I have a loose sock over the foot so she can't lick it. I'm not letting her walk much. She's not in much pain, she only cried once when I first cut it. Please help and thanks!

It ok it happens some times my mom use to work at a vet they run into this and we do so clipes on the side you can put flower on it or hold so papper or warsh rag on it till it stops bleeding. you don't have to keep a sock on it as long as its not bleeding no more and it want hurt to let walk as soon as it stops bleeding. I know I feel bad to when I do that to. But she will be fine

Hi! Im a groomer and this has happened to me many times! Its important to have some quickstop in your house if you are going to be cutting your own dogs nails. quickstop is the same thing as corn starch but it is sterile so you dont have to worry about any bactria getting into the cut while it clots. When I quick a dogs nail, I always praise the dog and give the dog a reward(treat). So they arnt afraid of getting quicked again when you go to cut the rest of the nails or any nail trimming in the future. Its very important that when this happens you stay calm and always keep up beat about it. this way the dog wont feel shy or anxious about nail clipping. try not to be afraid of clipping the nails just keep your cool and your dog will think nothing of it.For any reason if your dog wont let you clip the nails, just give a small correction and continue to clip the nails. Its important not to stop, just continue on. You dont need to have the sock on the dogs foot. she should be fine.good luck

Burkett's Cookies 'n' Creme

Bleeding nails are not big deal and should be treated as such. (In other words, don't coddle the dog over it. Doing so could make her think that it's a big deal and make it more likely for her to put up a fuss when you clip the nails.
The bleeding stops quickly in my experience. Just clean it with hydrogen peroxide and you're done.
