The gestation period for dogs is 63 days but Chihuahuas and other toy breeds often whelp several days early. As other posters have stated, Chihuahua frequently suffer whelping complications, often resulting in an emergency c-section. Mocha's complications resulted in a still born puppy and more than $1k in veterinary expenses. I hope your intention isn't to profit because Chihuahuas are extremely overpopulated and therefor difficult to sell. They make up for the largest percentage of the small breeds in shelters and rescue organizations, where they are available completely vetted and for far less money.

In fact, ideally one should study breeding and it's ethics very thoroughly for at the very least two years and have a good mentor before even getting ready to breed. I realize that this was probably an accidental breeding, but keep in mind to really do your studying. Your dog's life could seriously depend upon it. It's not uncommon for Chihuahuas to **require** a C-section, and if your female is under the age of two years, that could make it even harder on her. It may be a good idea for you to have your female give birth at the vet's office, so that if any complications (such as needing a C-section) arise she'll be right where the professional help is. I agree with Katie. You also need to see a vet, as well as start saving up money in case she needs an emergency c-section which is common in this breed, and will cost a few thousand dollars.

If your female Chihuahua is not spayed, and lives in the same house as Miklo, who (judging by his profile photo) is not neutered, then she is probably pregnant. My question to you is, why are you allowing your pets to breed? It takes a lot of research and knowledge to safely breed dogs that do not pass along unwanted traits to their puppies, not to mention that all breeds, Chihuahuas in particular, are found in horrific numbers in animal shelters, hoping to be adopted before they're put down. Your girl should not be producing offspring that will contribute to this problem. Your first step is to take her to the vet, to find out if she's pregnant. If she is, ask if it's not too late for a spay/abort. If it's too late, be prepared to pay for a lot of vet checkups, and possibly a C-section. Good luck!
