My dog needs training. The breeder will do that, but he has to stay in his boarding school Kennel for a month...

The breeder/trainer is a good professional with international recognition and awards. And this is the way he teaches obedience or hunting to his dogs.

My question is:
Is there anything against leaving my dog to learn with another person for more than a month - although I can visit him-?
Or is there anything i should know against boarding schools?

Thanks a woof.

In my opinion, if it is basic obedience you are aiming for through this method, I would definitely not do it. Beware of the methods some trainers use, even if they are recognized as professional. Inputing fear into a puppy for a month is a way to receive a dog with long term personality problems. So if it is reguar training you want, bring the dog into your household with YOU as the leader as train your dog yourself and to do that you likely will need the assistance of training information via book, internet and/or group training classes.
Remember that if you go with the plan for the dog to be trained elsewhere, you are at square one when the dog returns as he does not recognize you as his pack leader.

Is there anything in your contract with the breeder that requires you to send your dog there for training?

If not, and if your primary goal is just basic obedience, I would find a local trainer and sign up to take beginner's obedience together with your dog. Training isn't so much about your dog learning specific behaviors, it's about you learning how to teach your dog and keep up these behaviors at home. It also helps you build a really strong bond with your dog, another one of the plus's of training together.

Look for a facility that has APDT (Association of Pet Dog Trainers) certified trainers. Stay away from Petsmart and PetCo trainers unless they train outside of those stores as well (and have experience / titled dogs), as most of their "trainers" are store employees who have attended a short "training course".

There is no way in God's green earth I would leave my dogs anywhere for training!...Training is a wonderful way for you & your dog to bond!...Can you try to find a positive reinforcement trainer in your area for instruction?
Good luck!
