My dog has 1 day old pups. She won't eat or drink. How can I get her to drink? Is there something wrong?

IT IS HIGHLY LIKELY THAT THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG - GET HER TO THE VET - OR THE E-VET - IMMEDIATELY! (And yes, I AM shouting - your dog's life and the lives of her puppies are at stake!)

Get her to the vet NOW!!!...If she isn't eating & drinking then she can't produce milk for the pups!

Ashaya

This happened to me with my first litter, I will let my Owner explain.

-Ashaya

"I have had a dog do this.

I took her to the vet.

They can make sure she did not retain a placenta or puppy, this could kill her in a few days.

My female did retain a placenta, thankfully a little shot was all she needed to expel it.

Sometimes moms are so absorbed in there puppies, and very tired from labor they will not eat.

drinking is a bigger worry.

Try some goats milk or chicken broth.

Check her temp.

One female didn't start eating well till a week after birth.

I gave her a bowl of goats milk with an egg yolk and a drop of Kyro syrup. Ground raw turkey. (milk and turkey separate not mixed) Its the only thing she would accept.

also feed her WITH her puppies, some moms are to nervous when they are not with them to eat.

Please get her to the vet... she could die very quickly if she has retained something in her uterus.

Let us know how she does!

-Kat"

Bear, Princess, Coco, & Sheba

Vet ASAP.
IF this litter was bred on purpose:
Please learn more about responsible dog breeding, and especially *the many ethics involved*(such as genetic OFA, CERF, and more health testing), before breeding her again.
You need to have the knowledge of at least two years of thorough study, and time spent with a reputable mentor. Breeding without the necessary knowledge is extremely risky for mother and pups.
