My 5 year old husky has just been diagnosed with nerve sheath cancer...anyone ever heard of it? Had a dog with it??

It is also called Schwannoma. They have given her only about a year even if we try chemotherapy.

I just got the same diagnosis for my 6 yr old Aussie today. "Sob" My doctor is suggesting the best way to proceed medically is probably a front leg amputation. Where are you located? I hope we will be able to share information that may be helpful. Please keep us posted on any developments or just share your feelings if you like. It is a really devastating diagnosis. My prayer are with you.

I feel for you... My 3 yo golden has a nerve sheath tumor in her brain (8th cranial nerve). because of its location surgery isn't an option and they are recommending the CyberKnife. Very expensive, unfortuanately there is not a lot out there in terms of its use on dogs...specifically for certain tumors. If you are interested I can share with you my contacts and more of what I know. You and your pup will be in my prayers!
