My 2 month old siberian husky will only pee on the living room carpet. What do I do?

We just got a 2 month old Siberian Husky, she knows to poop on the newspaper we leave out on the balcony, but she has trained herself to pee on the brown rug in the middle of the living room. We got her two weeks ago and she has been doing this regularly for about a week. Any tips?

Your dog isn't house trained yet. Watch her closely at all times. If she starts to go anywhere she shouldn't a loud BAD DOG and rush to out/to the paper. Praise and pet every time you see her going where she should.

Keep her in a pen or crate when you are not home. We don't use crates here and have done fine, but they work well for some people, just remember that you can't leave your puppy in the crate more than a few hours.

I have to disagree that dogs do better always having a crate. Some do like their crate, but it is mostly a human convenience.
Give your girl some time, two weeks isn't much and she is still a baby.

When you are around you need to keep a close eye on the dog. Use closed doors or gates to keep it in the same room as you are, and perhaps as I do, a short chain fastened to the computer desk. If you catch it in the act, give it a sharp ''Ah, ah, ah!'' and take it out. When you can't watch it, crate it.

Other dogs may not be as bad as the young Labs I am plagued with. Still your house and dog will be much safer with the dog in a crate when you are away. The dog may be happier in its den than loose in the house. It relaxes, it feels safe in its den. It rests, the body slows down reducing the need for water and relieving its self. Dogs that have been crated all along do very well. Many of them will rest in their crates even when the door is open. I think the plastic ones give the dog more of a safe, enclosed den feeling. They are harder for dogs to open too. Metal ones can be put in a corner or covered with something the dog can't pull in and chew. Select a crate just big enough for the full grown dog to stretch out in.

Leave it some toys. Perhaps a Kong filled with peanut butter. Don't leave anything in the crate the dog might chew up. It will do fine without even any bedding. You will come home to a safe dog and a house you can enjoy.

A dog that has not been crated since it was little, make take some work. Start out just putting its toys and treats in the crate. Praise it for going in. If you have been able to trust it with any bedding, put that in the crate. Feed it in the crate. This is also an easy way to maintain order at feeding time for more than one dog.

I recommend crates to anyone who gets a siberian husky. Huskies are known to be destructive and crating them when you leave or not keeping an eye on them is always a good thing but never for more than a few hours. She probably smells the urine that is in the carpet and feels that it is a good place for her to go. Try to carpet clean that area very well and keep her in the kitchen area where there is just tile for a few weeks till she get the hang of going outside. Don't let her have full roam of the house yet till she knows to go outside.

I think she is smelling her pee in the carpet, even though we clean it up maybe even use cleaners they can still smell it with their keen noses.
Try natures miracle.
Also the dog has to go out every 1/2 hr. and I think a crate when you can not see her every sec. is needed also.
It is going to maybe take months to housetrain any baby dog.
So keep trying, don't give up
