Moving across the country and vinny needs to be put on a plane, how can I sedate him for the entire trip?

I have to echo what the posters before me have said.
Sedation will most likely not be an option for your dog while on the flight. While you may be able to give something mild (like the over-the-counter calming stuff they sell at the pet store), most airlines have rules against sedation due to health concerns for the dog.
I would talk to your vet and see what he recommends to make Vinny's flight relatively stress-less for him. Definitely get him crate trained and used to traveling inside a crate before you take this flight.

Well it is not recommended to sedate your dog during a flight so that they can kkep their senses about them.Where they are and such.Most airlines will not allow a dog to be sedated before a flihgt.This is something that you should discuss with your dogs Vet.And check with the airline you will be using.

A lot of airlines have policies against sedating dogs in the cargo area, and for various reasons. You might can get away with something mild like Rescue Remedy or Melatonin, but I would think twice before giving something like acepromazine.
If your dog isn't crate trained already, do A LOT of work getting him used to it. Crate him when you're gone even if he doesn't need it. And choose a bed he can't really tear apart, like maybe a thin bedspread rather than something with stuffing.
