Sprite chews on our furniture all the time, so I'm looking for a home-made deterrent to use. Something that tastes bad, but is not harmful. I've looked into buying some from a store, but it is so expensive. Any ideas?
Does sprite have enough appropriate things to chew on? many times dogs chew on inappropriate objects because they have nothing else to chew on.... or nothing they want to chew on.
Try leaving out a kong with peanut butter or canned food frozen in it. You can also rotate chew toys so it's not the same everyday. You can also try to leave out treat dispensing toys to keep your pup busy while you are gone.
It looks like sprite is pretty young, if he is teething a frozen rag is sometimes awesome for them to chew on (make knots in it so it resembles a rope toy).
If none of that stuff helps, i have heard of people putting tobasco sauce on furniture, but wouldn't necessarily do it... i know shayne isn't deterred by that at all.. so it could be like marinating the wood LOL!

There is a bitter apple spray that you can get at most pet supply stores and it's pretty close to being as natural as you can make at home. It's pretty effective and safe.
I'd consider confining Sprite to the kitchen with baby gates until he's past his teething stage. He's just going to go for anything and everything that he can get is little achy mouth on right now.
Try freezing some Kong bones or other rubberized bones for him to soothe his gums. And make sure he's got those more appropriate things to chew on even when you are around to supervise him.
Dogs go through two teething stages, one at 3-6 months and another lesser-known stage at about 14 months. This is when the adult teeth take root and it can be painful in some dogs, unnoticeable for others. So be prepared to start all over again around 14-16 months.
Good luck, he's adorable.
