Hi, if the shapes look like grains of rice, it could be tape worm segments. It would be best to take the dog and a sample of whatever is being left to the vet to find out what it is and what to do about it.

I would think tapeworm as well. They can look like rice when they first come out but once dried they often look like sesame seeds.
Take in a fresh fecal sample to your vet and get deworming meds for your dog.

I answered this yesterday, but it didn't show up.Probably tapeworms, BUT,before you run out and buy wormer, learn the facts,Google it.
There are a number of types of tapeworm and no matter what the pyrethium palmate(?sp),the vet sells you says, or the vet for that matter, IT WILL NOT KILL TAPEWORMS.
Different typres of tapeworms require different kinds of tapeworms require different wormers.I guess you could get a fecal and it might determine which type your dog has,but through the process of elimination you can probably figure it out.The two most common types are a tapeworm contracted by eating raw wild rabbit, the second type is contracted from flea bites, there are a couple of more rarer ones.I just got wormers for Sammyboy and Widget, they feast on wild rabbit often so I know which wormer to get.If you want to try to eliminate them yourself, Google tapeworm, then select the kind you think your dog most likely has, then look at the treatment (chemical that kills).Find a wormer with it
