I recently resuced a boxer, I need exercise and food advice

I recently rescued a boxer i thought was dead, she is underfed. I am currently feeding her EVO and am wondering how much I should be feeding her to get her to her 'normal' weight. She currently weighs 41lbs and is around 1 1/2 yrs old. Also, I currently work a full-time job and am going to school during the evening. I know my dog needs exercise, how can give her exercise and still work my schedule. Thanks for the help

it's gonna take time for the weight to come back. just feed her 1/2 of what she should be fed, but do it twice a day. As for exercise, get up a little earlier in the morning and take her for a 20 min walk or longer if you can do it. You can always take her out a second 20 min when you get home. also the other option is a dog walker if you can afford it and she will allow it. Good luck with her

An adult female boxer should weigh between 50 and 60 pounds. Look on the EVO package for the amount that you should feed a dog of that weight - that is how much you should give her. As the previous answer said, break the amount into at least 2 meals per day.

Well good food choice that alone will really do wonders. Id look at the EVO bag and figure out the weight she should be and feed her that amount. Another thing that would be really good especially since she is really underweight at least till she is a good healthy weight feeding three times a day would be more beneficial. You are thinking how with my schedule right? Well you can hire a pet sitter. They will come say at lunch hour feed her lunch AND if youd like provide your dog with a walk to. If you dont like that idea and want to still stick to 2 times a day feedings then just hire a dog walker they will walk your dog whenever youd like for as long as you tell them to.

I like Daisy's suggestion--estimate her ideal weight, look for the feeding amount recommended for that weight on the bag, and feed her that much per day. Break it into two meals if you have to. When you can feel her ribs easily, but not too easily, she is probably at her ideal weight.

Can you manage a 45 minute walk a day? 30 minutes? In addition, you'll also need to play fetch with her and provide mind stimulation, AKA mental exercise. This can be anything from teaching a trick to playing games like the dog version of "hide and seek". High energy breeds like Boxers need this.

If you don't feed more than the recommended amount, it will take too long. Go ahead and give her an extra cup.

Before doing that, evaluate her body condition. Boxers tend to be light eaters. Some of them won't eat enough to completely hide their ribs. Your dog definitely should be narrower at the waist than the hips and chest. You should be able to easily feel the ribs, but not see them. Each dog is different. Standard recommendations are a good place to start, but each dog must have its food and exercise adjusted to its individual needs. Miss Priss

Boxer's weight ; feeding a boxer;
EVO is a wonderful food - how about just following the back of the bag for the average amount to feed. You can also add some cottage cheese to her am EVO - just 1/4 of a cup daily....
SEE here for some supplements to help her gain bulk and gain her health...

You should take the directions on the bag for her current weight and divide up into 4 smaller meals, every 6 hours or so. www.thepetcenter.com Your boxer NEEDS to be walked or have a yard to run in! I have a 10 year old boxer and have had her since she was 7 weeks old, boxers, when not tired out can become restless and destructive! She tore up my couch at 6 around months old. Good luck! You will love having a boxer even when she is bad:o)
