I looked back over the past couple of pages of Dogster Answers questions and found a post regarding your 10 week old puppy biting your other dogs. Is that the question you're referring to?

If so, I can't say that I am seeing anyone being "rude" to you in the post. I do see plenty of good answers stating that this is normal puppy behavior (in any breed) and that you have to train your puppy to stop this behavior, not hit him (you'd stated you "pop" him in the muzzle when he does this). This is very good advice and not rude at all.

Maybe you are reading something into the posts that was not there because you felt people are "attacking" you because you said you pop your puppy in the muzzle when he bites. Maybe it's because writing doesn't always translate the same for everyone since you cannot read inflection of the voice and such.

I looked at your question and I don't think anyone was being rude.
The training techinques people offered were good.
Possibly educating yourself on the pitt is a good idea, I got from your question that you assumed he was biting because he was half pitt. Peoples advice, he is just doing what any puppy does, it has nothing to do with his breed so what you heard or believe is completely false.
And "popping" a dog on the nose will get you no where, it takes patience, praise and lots of yummy treats to have a well rounded happy trained dog.

I also saw nothing rude. I answered your question. You may have taken my advice about researching the myths and facts about pit bull breeds as rude or snarky, but I certainly didn't intend for that to be. I only meant that a well informed and responsible pit bull owner goes a long way for the breed, because you can provide education and guidance for those who believe the misconceptions.

Most who answered gave you very good advice. If you buckle down on the training and restrict the biting I can guarantee as your puppy ages it will subside.

I was not trying to be rude, I was just telling you what I did with my pup recently that worked, and informing you that poping your dog on the muzzle was never a good idea. If it sounded rude, I am very sorry, but that was not my intention. I have seen people use the technique that you are using with your dog, and it does teach aggression in some dogs. I didn't want you starting your dog on a path that down the road was going to be a bigger problem then the one he has now.

I didn't read the original post. But I don't see a problem with hitting your dog if it misbehaves. I'm NOT ENCOURAGING ANYONE TO BEAT THEIR DOG, EVER. So please don't go beat your dog and think I'm going to support that kind of behavior. But also keep in mind a pitbull puppy is just like any other breed of puppy and there is NO reason to hit them harder or more often than you would, say, a lab puppy. You should never hit them hard, you're trying to teach them not make them mean or scared of you. Sometimes the most effective way to teach them not to do something you don't like is a light tap on the nose then tell them you're mad at them. most puppies understand that you're angry and try to do better. also I know what you mean about people being rude, they were quite rude to me.

I couldn't find your question, but I imagine that others were not actually being rude. I've seen people be blunt on here quite often, but very rarely have I actually seen anyone on here be rude.

I can't say I know which answer or question you are referring to, but I have felt this form of frustration on Dogster.com Answers too. It seems at times people are being too blunt or literal with their advice to really be helpful. Plus sometimes it doesn't help to have limited space to get your point across. I'm sure you are a caring "puppy-parent" just looking for some FRIENDLY advice like I am & doesn't need others jumping to the wrong conclusions or accusing you of mistreatment, or your dog of a negative temprament or activity. I started putting "Positive suggestions please" on my posts/questions. I hope you have better luck in the future. Dogster.com is such a rare/unique resource for dog owners. Have a good day! :0)

i too have had ppl who jump to conclusions when i have asked a question.some ppl are just better at insulting than helping!! which is very sad. but when i ask a question and ppl waste my time to be condisending and not answer my question it only makes me think they really don't care about helping dogs in the first place.or they would just answer the question.or if they don't know an answer don't comment at all!!!!
