I have a 2 year old shih-tzu, female.. i put her outside for like 1 hour and she comes in and poops on the floor every

single time.. i dont know how to get her to stop but i am getting so frustrated with her... please help

Do you walk her at all? Maybe she doesn't get the right exercise enough to poop.

Muffins used to have that problem. He would get distracted and forget what he was out there for. Go outside with her, and remind her what she needs to do. Go back to potty training 101 - check out the forums for ideas on what to do.

I agree, you need to start back at square one... crate and leash walking until the deed is done, then WATCH carefully at all times when she is loose in the house. Putting her outside for an hour or so is not telling her that she is outside to do her business... if she goes out, ON A LEASH, when you know she has to go you can appropriately reward the act. If she doesn't go in a reasonable time, back in the crate and try again in an hour or so. Don't forget to keep a constant eye on her when loose... everytime she can run into another room and go she is learning it's easier to go inside than outside. If you need to, keep her on a leash attached to your belt when she is in the house with you. It works!!!!!

I think Toby and Rusty are on point. You need to start again from square one and GO with your dog on walks to make sure she does her thing, then praise her when she does go and take her back inside. A dog needs excercise so they can evacuate their bowels thoroughly. Allowing them to run a little on a long leash helps alot in getting them to go outdoors. Don't go back in until the deed is done.

This is clearly a training issue. You need to put some work into your dog if you want to end the accidents in the house.

So far I agree with the other 5 answers your dog needs a stuctured walk and exercise to go pee or poop just putting her outside tells her nothing I know I don't like to go in my own yard so do it while out running in the bush or on a walk.

I agree with the other answers. She associates coming inside with pooping! Here's how to fix it:

1. Use an enzymatic cleaner to remove every molecule of poop in the house. If she smells it, she'll go there again.

2. After she eats, take her outside and stay out with her, but ignore her completely. Take a book or knitting or whatever, don't make eye contact or talk to her.

3. When she does her business, have a big party! Tell her what a good girl she is, give her a treat if you like - just let her know how thrilled you are!

4. This is the key step - do NOT go back into the house. Stay outside and play with her, giving her a favorite toy and lots of attention, for at least 30 minutes.

This will remove the connection between going inside and pooping. She will become more and more eager to go poop outside, so the party can get started! Eventually, you can work down to 10 minutes of play outside after she goes, but wait until she's been successful for at least four weeks.
