He doenst do it to be mean but just to get a rise out of the pup. How can i stop this. They are both inside dogs and my 1 year old is fixed as will be the pup when he is old enough. How do i make my 1 year old not be so much of a meanie.
I went through the same thing with my two dogs. I have an Amstaff mix that had just turned one when we got out AB. They were pretty close to the same size so Rambo (amstaff) was constantly trying to get Diesel to play. At that time Diesel wasn't adjusted to us yet and always would run to my feet for help, and i would tell Rambo to go lay down so he can chill. Eventually Diesel got bigger and now they play all day and all night. Basically it will be ok once he gets a bit bigger. Until then i would just watch them when they are out together and try to teach your older one to relax when they are out.

Are you sure it is anymore than play? Does the 1 year old bow down chest to the floor and rear in the air before engaging th epuppy? If so, it is just play. So is jamming a toy in its face and running off with it. If it is all play, all you need to do is supervise and maybe train the bigger dog to be more gentle.

It's amazing how quickly our sweet little baby, becomes a big old bully, as fast as bringing home a new baby. I am everyones favorite dog. Or so I thought , until my family took me for a ride to a smelly place with lots of animals and showed me a little one, nice enough. Then the little dog came in the car to my house. Right away they all played, petted and snuggled it. My mom did not forget me! She and I are very close.
I got scolded for growling at the pup. I got scolded for barking when it came near my dish. My family spent lots of time with me. Mom takes me on great walks and brings the pup too. The pup hides under my belly when she's scared. I guess it's a big job and she needs me. It's been 5 months and I watch over her at the dog park and we play when I feel like it. As long as I'm top dog and they don't scold me too much, she can stay.

maybe keep them semi seperated til the pup is much bigger.
the one year is still a pup growing into maturity, so I know he doesn't mean to be frisky.
I think monitoring and also gating one of them would help in times you can not see them and watch every second.
At one year they are very much like a young pup still.
