I bought my dog a sherpa carrier for a flight home in Aug...
And reading different things they said to leave the carrier open, so he'd get used to it. Well, he chewed the dang zipper on it and the front zipper won't zip close!!!! Any suggestions on how to fix this so I can use it still use it? I paid decent money for it and am so frustrated, we haven't even used it yet!!!! :(

I don't. I took a leather jacket with a bad zipper to a repair place and they wanted a dollar an inch to replace it.
Are you sure the airline allows one of those carriers? Mostly they want the rigid plastic ones. Perhaps they are OK for small dogs in the cabin.

I don't know either about repairs.
But for getting your dog used to a carrier, you use treats and happy voices.
Bella jumps right into her carrier because she associates it with treats.
