my friend and her parents moved. they had one dog that they have left behind, at their house with no food. it is the saddest thing i have ever saw. my friend wants to come back and get the dog, but she is only 14 so she cant really decide what happens. I've heard her parents tell her that it'll either starve or it will find food. On the other hand i have tried to get my father to call animal control but he tells me that it isn't my problem. I asked my mother if we could either call or take him to a shelter, she said that no one would come out to where we live. . Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do or tell my friend?
What your friend's parents did is actually illegal. It is not legal to deprive a pet of food and water. I know you are young, but it's okay if you call the police yourself and report it. You don't have to be an adult to do that, and you may not even have to tell the police who you are. You can be anonymous. Get your local phone book and in the front where it has all the local government phone numbers find the number for the police. Don't use 911 because it's not an emergency, but the police department has a regular phone number that you can call for things you need to report that are not emergencies. The police will probably ask you some questions about how long it has been and where the dog is located and then will contact your local animal control and they will send someone out to rescue the dog. Your friend may not ever get her dog back, but at least the dog will still be alive and someone else can adopt him.

My dad knew some people who did that. The dog was left alone for days without food or water. My dad fed it and it gulped it all down. My dad also called the police, but they must have been jerks, cuz they said that everything was fine. Don't know what happened to the poor dog...
Follow Marlowe's advice.

I agree-follow Marlowe's advice! Call your animal control or police and just let them know the dog's situation. You are right to want to help. You can also tell your friend to call animal control anonymously too to report that the dog is there alone-if they receive two calss there is a better chance they will respond.
Another idea for you-look around on the internet for a local dog rescue group in your area and contact them too. They will usually go into areas that animal control won't. If nothing else, they would at least be another person alerting animal control.
Good luck and thanks for helping this dog!

i agree with everyone else... you should call the police and tell them to come and get the dog... there was a small dog in my neighborhood and people just came and dropped the dog off!! it was really sad and i called the local animal shelter and they never came to pick it up!!! but an old lady took the dog in... i was really happy to that she did that...

Don't call 911. It's not an emergency. The Police may forward you to animal control. In my area animal control will not come out unless I give them my name, maybe it is different in your area? Hopefully. But, it's not that big of a deal to give your name. I'm sorry your parents are sitting on their hands about this, this is a terrible situation to leave a pet in. Can you toss some food into the yard until something is done?
I would definitely LOVE to hear how this turns out!! Please repost a question and tell us what happens!!!
Good Luck

Agreeing with everyone here. Something needs to be done and you're not too young to report something to animal control.
Don't call 911 since it's not an emergency, but do call someone.
Bless your heart for trying to do the right thing.
