How to get Free or cheaper vet care. Answers at Dogster Answers.

I have a 5 year old pointer lab who has been very sick for a few months. We've seen 4 vet's and they're all stumpted and the results of tests are inconclusive. We want to take him to a teaching hospital, as we suspect that there is something viral or bacterial in his spine, the full work up at a hospital like this is $5,000. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get free pet care? Has anyone ever had their dog participate in a study to lower the costs of care? Are there any associations which donate money when owners cannnot afford the care?

Hoping for a Miracle!,
Shayda

The only thing I can think of is of advising you to contact your State University. Some have medical studies or can take the dog in and do some testing that is used to teach the students.
You can also ask if they will take donated time into consideration for paying for the bills.
You donate your time to cleaning cages and cleaning or helping for their efforts to help the dog.:) good luck.
