Gizmo

How come my dog doesnt have BALLS?

So i just returned from the vet, where my dear Gizmo got his 1st Wellness Exam and the vet was checking him and all of a sudden she stops and says "you said he's a male right? I can't feel his balls..there's nothing there" (WHATTTTTTTTTTT???????)

By the way Gizmo is a 4 month old male. I dont know what to make of this, I'm really confused now. The vet said he might be a late bloomer or something but I have to go back in 3 months for another check-up and we'll take it from there.

Is this normal?????

His testicles may be taking longer to drop or they may not drop in which case when he gets neutered they'll have to do a slightly more invasive neuter to go in and 'retrieve' them. It's not unheard of so I'm surprised the vet didn't mention that.

Snickers

It's not unusual. We had a 6 month old Corgi that was up for adoption because the Breeder wanted to show him, but at 6 months he still had one un-decended testicle, so no good for show.
He was adopted by a great couple in R.I. after we neutered him.

Tyson, now known as Winston

Not unusual, especially in small breed dogs. Mom had to wait right up until 6 months for mine to come down... and I was entered in some shows so she was getting anxious. But, they did, I won, I got my championship, and then, SHE CUT THEM OFF!!!!! It's okay, I am very happy without them, thank you!

My mom has a Pug who is 10 months and I had the same fear because Axel had pea size balls until a few weeks ago. The vet kept a close eye on him but they finally dropped and he is scheduled for surgary on the 20th of this month. If you got him from a breader he could be already fixed or they could have went in and have to be retrieved for removal,it's more commen problem then most relize.Good luck and take care I'm sure every thing will be fine he's still quite young.
