Strip all bedding from your bed that may have the urine scent, and wash thoroughly in warm water with a great detergent. Also, scrub your mattress with a urine remover to remove any lingering scent markers. Dogs will soil where they scent any urine at all, thier own or others. #1, everthing must be very very clean. #2, make sure your pup has recently piddled before you put it into bed again. #3 try a piddle pad with a special added scent attractant to use in your bedroom. When I get up at night to use the bathroom, I place my Penny on her piddle pad and she goes, too! Tiny dogs have tiny bladders and must be allowed many chances to eliminate. This is great for those 2 am piddles, when it's raining or just cold outside. Change the piddle pad often (I do daily, even tho it's only used at nite.) And praise, praise and treat if possible when they go where they're supposed to!!!

It likely is either a physical problem such as a UTI, needing a vet visit. Or, now that it is a year old, it is challenging your leadership. The better you clean the bed, the more likely to repeat it if it allowed on the bed. The key to most behavior problems is approaching things using the dog's natural instincts. Dogs see all the people and dogs in the household as a pack with each having their own rank in the pack and a top dog. Life is much easier if the 2 legged pack members outrank the 4 legged ones. You can learn to play the role of top dog by reading some books or going to a good obedience class. A good obedience class or book is about you being top dog, not about rewarding standard commands with a treat. Start at www.dogsbestfriend.com For more on being top dog, see www.dogbreedinfo.com.

Nibbles

Nibbles did that at the same age. I feel it was a marking behavior. You must throughly clean the bed. You have to watch him like a hawk when he is on the bed. Only let him in the room and on the bed with your permission. Claim the bed as yours. Nibbles only did it three times and now he can be trusted not to mark.
