How can I tell if my dogs have breed?

Serious answers only please! Thank You.
I have a 3 year old female Australian Shepherd,I had searched and searched for a suitable male to breed with her and finally ended up just purchasing one. He is also 3 years old and is of champion bloodlines ect...ect... Anyway, I put them together and he sniffs her and licks her but won't do anything else.
She is hyper and energetic, while he is calm and lazy.
I have not seen him even attempt to breed her.
So I thought maybe he breed her while I wasn't looking. Tell me, is there a way to tell if they've breed at this time? Or do I really have to wait a few weeks until I know for sure? I really need to know. Any advice would be helpful.

Is she even in heat???
I'll let everybody else address the fact that since you can't even really say it right, maybe you shouldn't be breeding, and ask about the health testing that you should've had done, and the conformation showing you should've done before all of this.
I just want to know if she's even in heat.

i have to agree with bam-bam I think if you want to breed her you should ask a recomended local breeder or you can just ask your vet. But i strongly advise against it if you want to breed your puppy with so little experience on hand.

I think you should consult a responsible Aussie breeder to help you.
There is more to breeding then just putting the two dogs together.

Gracie

If she was ready to breed you would not be able to keep the male away from her. They would be going at it all the time. And your male would not be lazy, he would be going nuts. When did she start her blood heat? Is she flagging?

She probably isn't in heat. Even when a female is in heat, she needs to be at the right stage of the cycle to be receptive to the male.

If you don't know even this, you shouldn't be breeding. Not yet. You need to research the subject of responsible breeding thoroughly for at the very least 2 years and find a good mentor before breeding so that you will know what you are doing.
