he is 4 months old and i have been grooming him myself since i got him. he is used to the clippers and scissors now, but he still hates getting his nails clipped, but i have never clipped them too short, or to the quick. I have tried clipping a few nails a day and giving treats after, but he still fights it. He is also hates getting brushed. I've tried many different brushes and i introduced him to the entire grooming process when he was 8 weeks old. What else can i do to make him more comfortable during grooming.
Practice with your pup each day with lots of tasty treats whenever he's behaving correctly. I would go to a pro groomer. It gets expensive, but it's worth it. Never go to Petsmart grooming, though. Their training and products are great, but their grooming isn't. Dogs get muzzles, and usually shake with their tails between their legs from what I've seen. Hope this helps!
Lots of Licks,
Jet
P.S. Keep me posted.

About the nails, practice positive handling of the paws when you curl up with him. Not during play time but durring down time when your cuddling up on the couch and he's relaxed. Just gently handle the paws and play with the toe nails. Once he gets adjusted to you handling the nails and the paws without any fuss start introducing the nail clippers but DONT clip the nails yet. Sit on the couch with him and practice the same thing but with the nails trimmers where he can see them. Eventually when he realizes they arent scary and this is all quite relaxing, is when you finally clip the nails. Through this entire thing remember to be in a calm relaxing environment. I had to practice this with my boxer and within about 2 months i could cut his nails no problem. It takes awhile but the end result is so much better than the fighting to get those nails done.
