Dog Park Benefits

I am asking this questions again as I need feed back from those that have helped develope an off leash dog park. I have a proposal for an off leash dog park that has been approved by our Park Board and will shortly be on the agenda to discuss with our City Council. My question is what benefit has your dog park brought to your community? I am asking as many people as will to provide me with an email outlining benefits a dog park brings to both dogs, their owners and to the community.

I am asking this to be sent to me via email as the City Council meeting is scheduled at any time between now and end of March. I know this is short notice, but any help you can provide will be appreciated.

Thanks,
Leslie Cosby

Hi there! As a dog who goes to the local dog park almost daily, I can tell you the benefits from the perspective of a dog: it's a place to socialize and learn good manners from other dogs, a place where the problem of leash aggression is totally absent, since everyone is off-leash.
If it helps, here is a link to the rules for our dog park: www.cityoforange.org
I wish I could give you a name of someone who is on the board, but the person I knew on the Orange Dog Park board has moved out of state. You might try a Google or Yahoo search on dog park benefits, pros and cons, or something similar, for more ideas. Good luck!
