Zissou

Does anyone else get really anxious when they have to go on vacation without their pup?

I feel like I am leaving my first child home alone or abandoning her even though she is going with my boyfriend and his dog and I get her back on Saturday! It's terrible.

This is quite normal, yes. My husband and I don't have human children yet, so the dogs are our children, and it's hard to leave them. They always stay with my parents, and even though they have been professional breeders and handlers for years, it always worries me. No one takes care of your dogs like you do, so it's hard leaving them with someone else, even if you trust them completely because if something were to happen, it's hard to not be there to deal with it. Try not to make it a big deal to your dogs though because this can cause separation issues, and in turn, make your dog more anxious than you. This will only cause him more problems when you leave because he won't be able to be calm while you are away. If he is familiar with your boyfriend, this should help him though.

ya but we left them with grandma and called her to chek on them when we got home we were so happy to see are dogs.

yes. we try not to be gone more than a few days, or just take them with us if we can.

Ming- Ming

I take Ming- Ming everywhere I can, but some times I can't and I have to board him but he always gets boarded with our other dog Rufus and with the same people and they wag their tails and get excited when they see her so I know they like her. Even with all that I feel like crying because he is my babay even thugh I have 2 human children I still love the dogsso much. I am still like this and Ming Ming will be 2 in December and Rufus is almost 8. (Rufus does not like to travel he gets sick and his hips hurt) He can only go on short trips.

Before I even had dog I would be a mess of anxiety when I had to leave my cats, bunnies, & guinea pigs...So, I stopped going anywhere where I had to be gone...When I have to go on dog related business I will only leave my animals with my husband so I know how you feel!

oh yeah. we once had to leave our dog for two weeks and we all got to where we really worried about whether or not she was okay. if you love your dog, it is perfectly normal to worry

Oh yeah! I worry so much about my dog, even when I just leave him home for a few hours! I almost get sick from worrying about him so much. It helps me to call and check on him when I am away for a long time. I even talk to him over the phone :)
