Try a Klaw Kontrol Bag or something similar if wrapping him in a towell doesn't work. It does the same thing and holds him in place while you clip his claws. Our vet does similar ones and you can rent them for a couple of dollars a week to make sure they work for you before you buy one. For a couple of my cats using the Klaw Control Bag is the only way I can clip their claws and with the bag it just take a couple of minutes even with the most wriggly feisty cat.

Just wrap him up in a towel or blanket with just his head and and one paw exposed at a time. It helps if someone can hold him for you. Pick a time when he is calm and not wound up and playful. You can also have your vet do it and give you more tips.

You do not need to get them removed because you're having trouble clipping them! jeez....

You could try wearing a pair of gloves if you need to protect your hands and hold him tight. I had to do this with a cat once. It might help to try when he is more relaxed, sleepy, etc.
Or you could have them clipped by a groomer or at the vet's office.
