Chihuaha Mix stomach looking "Swollen".

I have a 9 year old chihuaha mix and i've noticed over this past month that her stomach has been looking "swollen". She's been fixed for about 8 years now and has always been playful. She don't play quite as much anymore probably because she's older but she's not lazy either. I'm just worried/conerned since her stomach looks swollen that something might be wrong. She's drinking alot more and eating a little bit more than usual. Thank you for the help.

Have you asked a vet about this yet? If not, it's time to take her in.

A swollen belly can be any number of issues, from nutritional deficiencies to tumors or bloat (though that is an acute symptom and you mention the swelling has been going on for a month or so.)

She could also have pancreatitis or a metabolic or insulin related issue which can cause the excess drinking and eating.

From what you have put here, it doesn't seem like she's in pain, which is good. And she still has an appetite.

But really, the bottom line is that SOMETHING is wrong with her. The sooner you take her in and get a definitive answer on what that something is, the better chance of having a good outcome.

I'd really urge you to take her in right away to be seen.

Good luck with her, I hope you'll come back and let us know how she's doing and what ended up being the issue.

Jack as always has given great advice.
When is the last time your dog has had a fecal sample checked for worms. Worms can give a dog that pot-bellied appearance.
I think it's time your little girl makes a visit to her vet.
