chihauaha scared of taking baths?

my 1 1/2 old chihauha is terribly afraid of baths. when she hears the water running she starts howling and when im just bout to put her in the water she trys climbing on my back. and when she gets in, she hops out and gets water all over the new carpet we just layed out, any ideas???
