Hi! We adopted 2 dogs a little over a month ago. One is 4 months old, the other 19 months old. The older dog, a Foxhound named Milo, doesn't seem to mind being in his crate. BUT lately he's been chewing holes in the beds that we put in his crate for his comfort. The trainer said to then stop putting the bed in...you chew the bed, you don't get a bed...so we have a mat in there but it appeasrs he's not happy with that. I don't know, I wouldn't be happy wither going from a soft bed to a hard crate.
Is he bored? We give him a kong when we're gone for the day in the crate along with a few chew bones, etc.
Both big dog bed have hold in them now and the filling is coming out so we need to get new beds and I don't want to spend the $ if I know he's going to chew a hold in it.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!!
Listen to your trainer - he/she is right on the money.
If the dog can't be trusted with having a nice dog bed in the crate, then the dog doesn't get a dog bed. Dogs do just fine being in "a hard crate" - come on, these are the same dogs that will lie on the linoleum floor instead of the carpet. Dogs have a different idea of what's comfortable than people. ;)

I agree with Abby. Cash loves his crate but does not like any type of bedding in there at all. It took him chewing up two lovely beds for me to get the message. Duh...Mom is a little slow at times. At night, he tends to sleep with his head hanging across the threshhold of the bathroom...nice cool tile in there.
