I have a min poodle and she is great with my kids and they love her, they are also good for families with allergies.
Hope this has helped some.

I own a Chihuahua. Looking back on our adoption day with her, I am SO happy I have made her part of my life. She is everything I can ask for.
Chihuahuas are the smallest breed of dogs. They are perfect size for a child to be able to pick up and hold. Our neighbor owns a toddler, who when was a older infant would love to come over and play with Daisy. One of his first words were "Day-z!" Cleary saying, "Daisy!" He loves her to pieces! She will stand on her hind legs, put her paws around his shoulders and lick him to death while he giggles.
Chihuahuas are perfect size to fit in a child's lap as well.
We actually are looking into getting Daisy into therapy for kids, and reading with kids because she is so amazing with them. Kids love her! She never nips or bites at them, she knows that this is a young human, and she needs to be gentle with them.
Best of luck with your choice.

A corgi is a wonderful dog and is really good with kids. The only thing about corgis is that they are really protective over your kids if you try to punish them. Lance does that to his sister Sarah and me. Other than that they are really good dogs. There is even a website for corgis. Its www.mydogspace.com. I would pick a cardigan welsh corgi. They are more laid back! Hope I helped!

Miniature Poodles are awesome, but it still takes lots of time a training for a dog to like kids- no matter what breed.

I know that most dogs if socialized from early on will get along with kids. Some dog breeds though don't do to well with kids. It mostly depends on the socialization of the dog and how the kid behaves. If the kid doesn't know how to treat a dog and pulls on his ears and tail than sooner or latter no matter how tolerant the dog is he might bite the kid. If the kid knows how to treat the dog than he probably will get along with most dog. IF you looking to adopt most shelters have a room where you can pick out a dog and then go into the room and have the dog and your kid interact and see how they do. Your usually able to tell how the dog gets along with kids just by the way he plays with him and interacts with him.

There are lots of breeds that are great with kids. But, it is mostly not the breed, but the individual dog! I would recommend going to your local animal shelter because that is where many sweet dogs can be found. But if you are looking for a certain breed I would recommend: shelties, cockers, labs, german shepherds, american eskimo dogs, and many many more! Just do some breed research and see what breed fits your lifestyle! If you have more questions, just send me a message on my page (Honey).
