We adopted a husky when we were in an apartment. Even though we walked and played with him constantly, the apartment (two bedroom) was too small for him. He was restless alot. He kept trying to escape out the window, which was a problem because we were on the second floor. We quickly realized that keeping him in an apartment was simply unfair. Luckily we found him a great home with friends who had a big yard. I would definately research another breed, huskies are great and beautiful but they have specific needs. Good Luck!!

I think it depends on the dog. Some dogs can be good in apartments some can't. Huskys need a lot of exercise so if you plan on keeping one in an apartment make sure to give him/her enough exercise. Huskys are meant to pull sleds for long distances so a good hour or two walk, run or jog would be good.(depending on your dogs energy level) Also the dog park every week won't hurt if you have one near you.

I agree it will vary from dog to dog. I have a friend that had one as her dog guide for years in a small apartment.

Knowing the huskies I have and have ever had none of them would have done well in an apartment. They need more than walks they need a yard to run in their energy levels are high 24/7 not to mention the fact that when they bored they are chewers. It might be ok for a few weeks but after that you will end up getting rid of it because it will be hard to manage.

I lived in an apartment with my previous owner. I was very unhappy and destructive. My owner retaliated by putting me in a too small crate for 12 to 14 hours a day. I will now happily spend the a day inside with my new person, (she got rid of the crate) but I get a lot of exercise most of the time.

To even consider living in an apartment I would need to be walked before breakfast, at lunchtime, before and after dinner every day. I would need to be able to go to a dog park to run, (maybe I could go jogging instead) several times a week and I would need to spend quality time with my owner. I have heard of owners successfully keeping dogs like me happy in an apartment but it requires a huge commitment form the owner. Please don’t try if you are not able to follow through every day rain or shine.
