Can cat shampoo be used on a golden?

I am currently unemployed and only have cat shampoo, could I use this on my 11 year old golden?

I use my shampoo on our dog and even conditioner. I don't think it really matters.

I would not use cat shampoo or human shampoo on dogs. The skin of a dog has a different pH balance than that of a cat or a dog.

While some dogs do okay being bathed using human shampoos, it's not recommended. Many dogs' skin is too sensitive to be washed with human shampoo and using human shampoo can cause itching, rashes, bumps, and general discomfort. Additionally, the fragrances in most human shampoos can cause allergic reactions.

If you need an inexpensive alternative to a dog shampoo, a pH neutral shampoo, such as Johnson-and-Johnson's baby shampoo can be used in a pinch. It usually less than $2 a bottle. It should not become a long-term solution, though.
