Toby only pees in his cage. We have tried everything: limit water before crating, a blanket to feel more cozy, making the cage smaller and nothing works. Help!
Toby you are a handsome dog. My guess is you are part Russell Terrier and Stafford Terrier. If you are, that would make you a Russford or if you prefer, Saffsell. As far as peeing, you are still a puppy. Dogs do not want to sleep where they pee and poop, and eventually learn to hold it in. However, puppies can only hold it so long. If you can't make it through the night right now, somebody should take you outside at least once during the night. (If you had a new baby, you'd have to get up with them. Remember a puppy is just a baby too...) If you are being crated during the day while your family works, perhaps they can find someone to take you for a quick walk during the day. Eventually, your potty breaks will get longer and longer between and accidents less frequent. Like children, each dog potty trains in their own time. Unfortunately, some take a little longer than others. Remember to walk Toby when he first gets up and after meals. Good luck!

Toby sure is cute! Looks like some Bull Terrier in him!
As far as crate training/potty training, you need to make sure the crateis the right size of the dog, which is the dog's lenght and a half, too much room means they feel like there is room to eliminate. We got Ruby at 7 weeks and for the first two weeks in the night I had to get up 2 to three times when she would cry to take her outside to go potty. She was fully housetrained in 3 weeks, only a couple accidents ever. (maybe like 4) but we watch her like a hawk, you'll get to learn his body language and you'll know when he's about to go potty. I took Ruby out about 20 minutes after she ate and drank, and always put her out to eliminate before putting her in her crate. Hope this helps! Good luck!

He really looks like a Bull Terrier/Jack Russell/American Staffordshire Terrier mix.

Pepper only peed in her crate when she couldn't hold it any longer. I think Toby just spent too much time in a crate/kennel and was'nt taken outside to pee, so he does'nt know any better. As with any potty "goofs", it's best to catch them in the act, give strong "NO!", then take him outside to pee. When ever he pees outside, praise and reward immediately (within 2 seconds) with really good treats!
Make sure you remove and really, really get the floor pan of the crate super clean and deodorized before you let him back near it.
Just a thought - before you clean it..... take it outside with you and put it down where you want him to pee. He will try to pee on it of course, just say "no" and move him off it. Remember to praise very strongly and treat!
Good luck

You're an all around pit bull! Because they aren't registered with a specific standard, the pit bull's looks and color and size will very.
My mom has a rescue and many pit bulls have come through and none of them looked alike.
You might not be all pit bull but you have to be majority.
Am staffs are AKC registered, so they have a specific standard. You're too big to be part Jack Russell. Bull terriers have a roman nose and would have a slight roman peak to his nose if part.
And, being a puppy, he will go to the bathroom in his crate. If he drinks water and/or gets restless in his crate, take him out. He'll soon realize to go to the bathroom outside instead of going in his crate.
Hope this helps!
