Bandit potty in the house can't hold it?

When we are home Bandit Boston Terrier tells us he needs to go potty...When we are not home he goes pee/poop in my kitchen...It seems like he can't or won't hold it? He's 2 yrs old and I feel so bad keeping him in the cage when I'm not there. The people before me never trained him right. So I am starting fresh with him...He's a good boy...

perhaps he was never potty trained. Maybe the previous owner allowed him to do so.
Not sure, but just start all over. Praise him heavily when he goes outside, go with him.
Then remove the poo that he makes inside and take him out with it , let him see you take it out in the yard. I would leave his messes out there so he has a place to associate it with.
If you crate him that allows you take him out when you get home. You can also make it back to the house on lunch breaks. I say he was never housebroken. Boston are very clean dogs.
I think he is able to be trained now and you should not feel bad about the crate. As long as he is not kept in there for long periods he should be fine.
Some dogs have anxiety when we leave and that may have something to do with it. He gets overwhelmed and elimates himself.
Try getting up an hour early to walk him in the morning. Take the extra time to help him out.

You don't mention how long he is left alone before he does it. It may simply be that you are asking him to hold it too long. Does it happen every time you leave, no matter how long you leave him for? Then it may be a symptom of separation anxiety. It sounds as though he's a rescue. How long have you had him? It could be that he is still trying to settle in to the new routine.

Once you figure out why he is having these accidents, you can find the answer to fix it on the Dogster forums.

Good luck!

i agree with the other answers.... one thing you do need to do is make sure that after you pick up the messes with paper towel or whatever you use that you also use cleaner to clean the spot so that the pup doesn't smell the urine. do make sure it is either pet safe or that bandit doesn't go on the floor for a safe period of time after cleaning. good luck
